Abstract | Togachitina eamesi gen. et sp. nov. is described and illustrated from the Devonian Iquiri Formation of Bolivia. This new chitinozoan is flask-shaped (Ancyrochitina-like) and has a distinctive outer wall enclosing the entire vesicle. This is the second bilayered member of the Lagenochitinidae to exhibit an outer sleeve with pronounced separation of wall layers but the first with an Ancyrochitid vesicle shape. A new subfamily, the Togachitininae, is proposed for cylindro-conical chitinozoans with separated wall layers. |
