Abstract | Five new chitinozoan species, including one Late Ordovician, three Early Silurian, and one Late Devonian forms are illustrated, described, and discussed in this palaeontological appendix. Three additional Devonian taxa, recorded only in cuttings, are also described. The following symbols are used: L, chamber length (excluding the processes); Lp, chamber length; Dp, chamber diameter; Dc, neck diameter; Dcoll, collarlette diameter. All measurements are expressed in microns (µm). The values of Dp, Dc, and Dcoll are obtained by using a coefficient of correction (coeff. 0.7) to correct the compression effects. Diagrams and biometric data are obtained with a specific computer programme elaborated by J. C. Jaglin (1986). All the illustrated specimens are housed in the Palynological Collections of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Benghazi, Libya. |
