Lower Silurian (Llandovery-Middle Wenlock) chitinozoans from the mainland of Sweden have been investigated from the provinces of Skåne, Västergötland, Östergötland and Dalarna. Altogether twenty-three species from twelve genera, of which one species, Euconochitina praeclaviformis, is described as new, and four species left in open nomenclature are commented upon. A chitinozoan biozonation, with eight zones and subzones, for the lower Silurian of Sweden is proposed and compared with the graptolite zones.
